Zion Church   How lovely is thy dwelling place, O Lord of hosts to me! . . . Beside thine altars, gracious Lord, the swallows finds a nest; how happy they who dwell with thee and praise thee without rest . . . (The Hymnal 1982; Brother James' Air)

Prayer for the Tenth Anniversary of 9/11:

Lord God Almighty, we remember before thee this Nation, especially on this Tenth Anniversary of the attack upon its People; We beseech thee to regard with thy favor all who died on that Day and whose injuries have been mortal.  Grant to them thy mercy and the light of thy Presence that they may share in the eternal victory of Jesus.

We also remember before thee, Father, all who are debilitated as a consequence of that Day, and all who mourn.  Nourish their souls with patience, comfort them with a sense of thy goodness, and give them thy peace.

We give thee thanks, O Lord, for all Police and Firefighters and Emergency Personnel.  Strengthen them and preserve them in every danger that they may so faithfully serve thee here that they fail not finally to attain to thy heavenly promises.

And heal, we beseech thee, O Lord, the festering wound of religious fanaticism; Pour out thy Spirit upon all flesh so that people everywhere may seek after thee and find thee; That they may eschew violence and follow the Good Shepherd into thy peaceable Kingdom.

All this we ask through the same, thy Son Jesus Christ, Who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth, One God, for ever and ever.  Amen.
